Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - April 15, 2012

Well, here we are again - the 15th of every month is Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!! A great
day to share what's blooming in my garden with fellow bloggers (and other interested folks!).
This meme is created by Carol at May's Garden Dreams http://www.maydreamsgardens.com/
I am happy to report that there's MUCH more to see than last month but that's because
the crazy heat wave we had in March pushed everything ahead at least a month.
Oh well - let's just enjoy.
Here's what's blooming in my garden today:

Grape muscari

'Jetfire' daffodils

(on its last legs but still blooming) Forsythia

Scilla

Beautiful red Apeldoorn Darwin tulip…but looked what happened next...

Rotten little scoundrel squirrel bit the head off !!!

Blue hyacinths

Fuschia hyacinths

Chionodoxa (Glory of the Snow)

Ice Follies cupped Narcissus

King Alfred Type Trumpet daffodil

Wonderful tiny mini Narcissus - Hawera

And now - a sneak preview of what will be in bloom NEXT MONTH!

Extremely fragrant Viburnum x burkwoodii

Bleeding hearts

And hopefully……..Peonies!!

Astrid, how lovely is Blooming day in your garden! I like Chionodoxa too, I've them in deep blue, but by the years the color changes.

Hi Nadezda
Glad you enjoyed the photos! Things are starting to appear every day and all non-blooming perennials are starting to bulk up. I love spring!
Thx for posting a comment.

Hi Astrid, Happy GBBD! Did you get some rain today? We got a sprinkling, which the garden so desperately needed. Your garden is coming along nicely. I love those Fuschia hyacinths. What a fantastic color! I wish I had some grape hyacinths after seeing your pretty ones.

Hi Jennifer!
We got quite a drenching actually, which was needed. I couldn't weed a section yesterday because it was too dry. Took a quick peek at your new post. Lovely photos as usual. I will comment on your site in a moment.
Had a bit of a shock this morning: my blogspot was showing .ca and not .com. I quickly checked yours and yours was .ca as well. I tested it and .com still gets to the blog. Weird, eh?
Let's enjoy every wonderful day of this early Canadian spring!
Thx for your comments - Astrid

Hi Astrid, what a lovely show of spring flowers you have! Loved the Forsythia, wish I had room for one myself, but my postage stamp garden is not big enough for something like that. We have got a few drops of rain too, just to tease us though, doesn't amount to much. Oh, those squirrels...love to see them play, but wish they would leave our plants in peace!

Hi Helene
Your yard may be small but it's full of treasures. It's beautiful. Sometimes a big yard has its disadvantages: I am usually sooo tired after a day of gardening, that I need 2 Advil and a nap!! Happy gardening.

Hi Deb
Thx for posting a comment and thx for the compliments! Yes - the garden is in its fresh, clean, new spring stage and it's just lovely. It helps that it's going to be really warm today. Out I go!!

Hi Lona
Thx for your comments. Yes - things are blooming about 1 month early here as well. But many of them are so pretty, I'm just trying to enjoy them and trying to not sweat the small stuff. Happy gardening!
